Essential Oil Uses
Used before exercise, this oil can support performance or, after exercise, can help cool the body. One drop on each wrist can enhance endurance while exercising. Capsules can be made by dropping 2 drops of Vitality peppermint oil in a capsule and can be taken 3 times day or as needed.
One drop of Young Living peppermint oil is equal to 28 cups of peppermint tea. The essential oil can be added to a cup of warm water for a refreshing peppermint tea, but adding one drop to a quart of warm water would probably be less potent and more refreshing.
Concentration and Mental Sharpness – apply peppermint oil directly, or diluted with a carrier oil like coconut or olive oil, to temples or back of neck.
Head Discomfort – rub one drop on back of neck, on temples, and forehead being careful not to make contact with eyes.
Energy Pick Up – Apply a drop of peppermint oil to the back of neck and shoulders during the day for an instant energy pick-me-up. Or mix a drop of peppermint oil with some purified water in a 4 oz spray bottle. Spray around head when feeling tired or foggy to help energize the body.
Snacking Deterrent – Diffuse or inhale peppermint oil throughout the day to curb the desire to snack.
Stomach Support – Inhale or apply a drop of peppermint oil on abdomen to help soothe the stomach.
Energizing Lotion – Add a drop of peppermint to 4 oz of a favorite lotion and rub on feet.
Non-toxic Bug Deterrent – Add 15 drops of peppermint oil to a 4-8 ounce spray bottle of purified water. Spray in areas where bugs enter.
When using this oil, it is important to note that essential oils should never be put in the eyes or ears. If someone accidentally touches their eye or ear after applying an essential oil, make sure they use coconut or olive oil to dilute and NOT use water. Water will make the oil molecules get bigger, where a carrier oil will slow the absorption of the essential oil that may have touched the eye or inside the ear.
